The popular rage against the Viet Nam war in the US for 35 years has been primarily based on this.

Baloney! The protests against the war were almost entirely based on saving one's own skin. It wasn't until the draft that the protests became prevalent.

Right now, most people don't give a damn about how many Iraqis were tortured and/or killed in Iraqi prisons run by the so-called coalition. But wait until the draft (which is a certainty if Dumbya gets elected) and you will see for yourself how the anti-war protests will take off.
