yes, i use disk defrag in win xp pro. someone posted an article on how to automate the process. i followed the article's instructions and it works great. my system defrags itself every sunday at 3am, assuming i leave my 'puter on saturday night. unfortunately, i can't find the article. i have some sketchy idea on how it was done. 1) i created a batch file containing one line, "defrag c:" without the quotes. i put the batch file on my desktop. in fact, my file name is "Defrag C.bat". you need to do this as administrator. try double clicking on your batch file and see if it really works. 2) in win xp pro, goto start>control panel>scheduled tasks>add scheduled tasks and just follow the wizard. i know the steps are somewhat vague, but, people here can proly answer specific questions. it's still a slow process to defrag, but, at least i'm not awake when it happens.
