How many kids do you know that aspire to be murderers, rapists, etc.? Generally speaking, kids aspire to be successful. If the role model of "success" is the gang leader, the drug dealer - because they are powerful and/or have lots of disposable income - then yes, being a murderer or rapist as a price to pay for being successful becomes OK. Also, what they see on TV and in movies can also play a part in how they see murder and rape.
