<I do not think of iraq as a loss. > ..........

.......... We've really accomplished virtually nothing in Iraq. In fact, we have backtracked. The region is more dangerous and we, as a country, are poorer financially and spiritually as a result of this ridiculous misadventure.

Do you really "not think of iraq as a loss"? I hated Hussein as much as anybody. I really wanted Bush's father to finish the job in 1991. But I started to see over the next decade how Hussein was keeping a lid on an insanely diverse country. Granted, he posed some dangers: to the Israelis with his funding of Palestinian suicide bombers and, of course, to his own people. But God, look at the chaos now as a result of our having removed that lid from the Iraqi tinderbox. And look at the influx of Islamic extremists to the country.

Do you think the situation in Iraq can ever be stabilized? I don't. And this is costing us a fortune.
