I've been around long enough to witness 2 couple of building booms but nothing remotely equal to this one.

Yeah well... and by the same token, there have NEVER been the circumstances surrounding the on-going phenomenon, i.e. excessive immigration, China's effort to convert 1.2 billion destitute peasants into consumers... (And India, and Vietnam, and.....)

Btw... Did I mention that when they 'militarized' the border patrol (around 1996 I believe) they helped create the current immigration boomlet...?

Why?

Because in the past most Mexicans used to come and go as they needed (or not) jobs and returned to their native land once they had enough $$$$....

Now, because it is an even worse nightmare (as if it was not before), instead of returning to old Mexico, they are now BRINGING their relatives in, legally, or otherwise...

So... now wait until this new 'twist' to the demographic picture kicks in... What do I mean...? Let these guys settle & feel comfy... observe when the new "birth rate" starts "working its magic" -LOL

Remember the old TURBO BOOST of the early Porsches? You accelerated and nothing really happened for a few seconds and then..... ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM the TURBO kicked in....

Well... I have this theory, that since 1996, the new law has been 'working its magic' and only now are we going to start seeing the real effect...

I love to see politician's faces when they discover that the effects of their idiotic laws yield the completely OPPOSITE effect of their... 'wisdom'

Then we have the China syndrome.... -gggg Just consider the proportions...

In the past the US (a market of 280 million people -roughly) has been driving the world economy for the last century (plus or minus)...

What do you think it will happen when 3 billion former peasants become full fledged consumers?

Ya think oil is going to $20.00/bbl. ? (Not unless they develop an alternative source of energy)

Steel? Copper ? Nickel ? ....

I'd consider some chunk of beach front in Australia... as it happens; they say it is selling for cheap way down under.... just what the doctor order... a timely collapse of prices...

Hmmm maybe I should indeed sell some of my US holdings and pay a visit to those crazy Aussies, -LOL!
