Kerry never grandstands. I know the guy. He only does what every politician has to do to introduce himself and his best qualities to voters. Otherwise, he is surprisingly humble and non-egotistical. He also never talks about his wartime experiences unless he has to.

His confidence comes from a deep-down knowledge of himself and his expertise, and his long sense of destiny. He knows he is meant to be president, and that his country badly needs him. He just knows. He also knows he is a better man and leader than Bush.

I once looked in his eyes and told him to never-ever give up nomatter how hard things look because he is going to make it. He just nodded and said "I know, thank you". It was a very illuminating moment for me. I knew right then that this guys knows he's going all the way and nothing's going to stop him. But no conceit or ego in it, and he would never brag about it, just deep inner knowledge. He's one in a hundred million, he really is. The real deal.
