<So would you prefer doing nothing?> Nothing I said would lead you to that conclusion. Some effort has been made to assure that nuclear materials are safely under control -- however, what is being done is clearly inadequate in relation to the task and its importance, and there have been reports that the efforts of the US have been declining. Like it or not, there are only so many things we can do well at the same time. The war in Iraq has diverted resources and attention from far more urgent and pressing national security concerns. Iraq is little more than an extremely costly and very bloody sideshow. Nothing of consequence was at stake in Iraq in terms of US national security. As for you assertion about "be assured", I believe in performance, and nothing about the performance of the Bush Administration on foreign policy provides any assurance whatsoever that things are going to be handled properly or with the urgency they deserve -- quite the contrary.
