Downfall of the USSR was triggered by the revolt of the people from the countries that made up the USSR. Not a single US weapon was fired. Instead, the Soviet citizenry overthrew them. It was Yeltsin who stood on top of a tank in Moscow square and challenged the Soviet army to fire at him. Now if the Republicans were all for that democracy, then why did they not use the firepower of the Reagan arms buildup to help the Chinese? So quit kidding yourself that the Reagan/Bush arms buildup caused the downfall of the Soviets. The Reagan/Bush deficit was what Clinton inherited. And it was his emphasis on the computer chip and the Internet which caused the deficit to reduce.
