I heard an interesting take on the terror alert by a former CIA and State department anti-terrorism guy on the radio. He said he though AQ was just jerking Bush around, using the alert to study the response of the opposition. They know Bush is in a position where he has to cover his ass by responding, and in doing so, he'll hilight how the defenses can be penetrated. Given how easily Bush was manipulated into Iraq by Iran and Achmed Chalabi, I'd say it's an easy bet.
