The only way to make sense of the recent announcements is to put them into a political context. We know, for example, that AQ may very well attempt to do something between now and the election. We also know that AQ thinks that a few enormous hits to the US economy would result in our capitulation.

Put these two together and we have the makings for a perfect terrorist storm this Summer and Fall, so on second thought it is probably quite wise to assume that the attacks are in fact imminent even if the information we have doesn't suggest a time line for any terror event.
