Kerry is showcasing his military service as a way of countering the standard criticism from the right that a Democratic candidate will not be a strong leader in the war on terror. It would have been a legitimate gripe from the right, IMHO, if Dean had been elected. Most moderate Demos are not anti-war as an absolute rule, although many are against the specific war in Iraq. For example, I support (and supported) the war in Afghanistan, which unfortunately is way underfunded and undermanned, and suffering because of it.
The main gripe of the swift boaters, as I see, are Kerry's post-tours anti-war stances, and his comments about hearing stories of atrocities. Understandable, but misguided.
Thanks, b walk away from the madness of my beliefs, or of this thread? At times, this thread does seem a bit of a loony bin... |
