I also have a personal story of how the Reserves can try to screw members. I was given orders to a PHIBCB unit 4 hours away from my home for weekend drills. I had done my maximum time in a local SEABEE Batallion. My last drill at the SEABEE battalion was at the end of September. The Navy didn't come up with new orders for me until May of the next year to this PHIBCB unit. I was also told that travel and lodging to this new unit had to be on my own dime. I told the petty officer at the Reserve Center that I refuse the orders because they left me with an 8 month gap since they were so late in issuing new orders and because of the lack of travel pay. A few months later I got new orders to a different local unit which I drilled at for the next two years.
