mish, Part of what he says makes sense and the rest is silly. Of course I don't think taxpayers should pay for conventions involuntarily, out of general revenues, though I do believe in the check box on the 1040. The conventions themselves seem like anachronisms in this time of computerized voting. Was it any surprise that Kerry/Edwards were nominated? <G>

On health care and education, he's just as wrong as can be. We are the only industrial nation without a national health care system. And Medicare, which is a national system for a small part of our citizenry, is by far the most efficient health care system in the country.

The problem with education is at the state and local levels, not the federal. A child should not get a much better education just because he was born in a blue state. In fact, I would contend that poor educational standards are part of the reason we even have red states. <G> The simple fact is, schools with more money per student, either private or public, do a better job. The correlation is not 100%, but it is pretty solid.
