I think this is the key point. Note that accomplishing it was not tied to the invasion of Iraq.

BTW, I was munching on sashimi in a Japanese restaurant the other day sitting at a table near the sushi bar at which sat an obviously Arab man and a very American woman. The woman nibbled on sushi while the man, wearing scrubs, spent most of his time on the phone switching back and forth between animated conversations in Arabic and professional transactions with his office or hospital. The latter were in perfect English, indistinguishable from ordinary doctor speak, as were his mannerisms. Of course, I have no clue what the former were about. I wondered about how many people, watching him, would think him a potential terrorist.
