Ability to communicate with other tribes along the way else they may be destroyed. Ability to cross streams or rivers running into the ocean. Build some kind of boat or cut logs- tools. A defence against wild animals like tigers. Perhaps fire and punk to make the fires portable. A reason to keep traveling, or was it just curiosity.?
