On the polls: USA poll also shows Bush with a 49% disapproval rating and Newsweek shows 58% of Americans think we're going in the wrong direction. So even though Kerry isn't trouncing Bush, Bush seems to have nowhere to go, with a maximum of about 49% of the vote for Bush. Kerry's maximum is higher than 50%. Both have solid support in the mid 40's, but it's who can get to 50.1% especially in battleground states that counts. Also remember that the Libertarians may suck off about 2% of Bush's potential vote. Nader isn't the only story there. Bush's huge deficit spending has teed off a lot of small government conservatives.
