Ted, Bush and Rummie knew full well what was going on in Iraq........and in Gitmo and in Afghanistan. It was Bush policy........pure and simple. They did not want to follow the Geneva Conventions. They are responsible period.

My point is that a LOT of people on both sides of the fence are responsible.

I am unclear to what fence you are referring. Rummie is the Sec. of Defense; Bush the Commander in Chief. These are not meaningless titles..........the buck stops with them.

That's why it's useless to point the finger at just Bush and Rumsfeld, because you'll never get anyone to admit squat, even those who stand to gain the most from "Anyone But Bush."

Because Bush and Rummie are playing dumb doesn't mean we can't point a finger. It seems politicians are becoming infamous for not admitting their guilt.

This Abu Ghraib thing will simply go away once the media attention dies down, and the "official" line will be that a bunch of sex-starved privates and specialists did this all on their own. It just doesn't pass the smell test with me, how a bunch of low-level soldiers knew the best way to humiliate Arabs, but it's also ludicrous to think that people so far up the chain of command knew exactly what was going on. To me, that's the nature of the CIA "black world," and even I'm not sure I want to know the truth here.

I might agree with you if Abu Graib were an isolated event......it was not. Similar tactics were used in Afghanistan and Gitmo but not to the degree of those used in Abu Ghraib.
