obesity has many sources of the problem
several are legitimate
obsessive compulsive
horrible upbringing with constant humiliation
sometimes genetic
but all in all, this is the byproduct of a BigMac generation
would you like french fries with that?
NO
burgers and fries with a coke is not a balanced meal
I knew a nice young woman at 5'4" and 250 lbs once
she got help, but slipped back in the next two years
it was some basic stomach stapling procedure to reduce its size
she went down to 150 lbs, found herself sexy
she boasted to me that she was finally cute
she thought I might be interested in her (NO WAY, JAKE)
well, with my discerning eye, I thought she was very ordinary, just not a little hippo any longer
in the ensuing winter she had emotional troubles
I think it was boyfriend troubles
she was back to 250 lbs within 9 months
she went way over that in the following year, feeling defeated
watching her entire experience convinced me of the enormous challenge for the obese
the problem extends far beyond eating right and regular exercise
the emotional side is very important for constant motivation
we mock the French, but I DO NOT, especially after visiting France
in one week, I saw 3 fat slobs out of perhaps 2000
they were probably not French, who knows?
at one point, three fat young girls were walking toward me and my host for the week
I spotted them with my keen eye, and made comment to him
"of course, they are American" was his reply
I said "I will find out, listen for their words, catch their accent"
he and I separated
after a few minutes, looking nonchalant, admiring the ocean,
I caught them walking by
they were all three English speaking
then their American accent came through, all three little hogs
I bristle at people who show disdain for the Europeans
they mostly have never known any
and certainly lack the culture or gumption to visit Europe
(this includes a large slice of Bushy supporters)
WE ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD
AND WE PUT OUR NOSES UP IN THE AIR AGAINST EUROPE
a French man said to me in the jet plane
"why do you Americans not respect your bodies?"
I said "I dont know, we are free, you know, free to be slobs"
then went on with .....
"we are subjected to crazy advertisements all the time, for bad food"
then closed with .....
"we do not study nutrition very much as a nation"
the Medicare costs will be totally bankrupting
the new costs from obesity treatments will be huge
e.g. stomach stapling at $30k per clip
by then this nation will have become a Third World Nation
this country is going to the dogs
we are years away from going to seed, which is better than the current situation
