- it's a two-step process for them: no to Bush, neutral, yes to Kerry
- undecideds, on election day, generally vote the bum out
- No modern president has won reelection with these kind of job approval ratings months ahead of the election.


I would agree with all of that. I don't know what the DLC is or isn't looking at, but I will say that I've been more interested in watching Bush's numbers in relation to his prior ratings.

But this is still pre-season. I wouldn't get serious about the Bush vs. Kerry numbers until at least after the the GOP convention. A better time might be after the first debate.

If OBL gets miraculously captured the day before the election, Bush probably wins.
