That's a feature. <g>

Browsing the thread will feature a link called "Mark as Last Read" (or some other description... a frequent topic @ iHub). That's lets you reset the "place keeper" to any point on the thread, and your SubjectMarks will reflect the post subsequent to "Last Read" as your new starting point.
