This is the the bottom? Wanna bet? How high do health insurance premiums have to go before the conservatives agree that universal health insurance is the only solution? How long can America run $500 billion deficits before the bottom falls out and Cheney muses that maybe, just maybe, deficits do matter? How long can America run massive trade deficits before paying the piper? What happens when women start dying again from back alley abortions? How many "suspected terrorists" will be held for how long without trial because the executive branch deems them "dangerous". When will an Iraqi, now a child, adopt the mantle of bin Laden and attack America in some horrific way to avenge the death of his family from an American "smart bomb" gone astray? What happens when social security goes broke? What kind of America will we see when the rich pay a lower % of income in taxes than lower and middle income folks? How many more amendments to the constitution will be proposed and enacted to ban abortion, gay rights, flag burning and heaven knows what other kooky notion the right feels is right? Can you picture a Supreme Court with nine Clarence Thomases? Will our National Parks be dotted with strip mines and oil rigs, our streams and rivers polluted, our drinking water laced with arsenic? Will the "war on terror" continue without end because our leaders are simple minded fools who believe we can eradicate terror without addressing its fundamental causes? Will we all be flipping burgers and selling insurance to one another?

I exaggerate a bit, of course, but by how much? Have we seen bottom? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

I am saying that this is right at the bottom. The situation can remain the same or it can only improve such as in Iraq, economy etc.
