>>> guess there are various ways to look at things.<<
>>U.S. per capita is showing at $24,904.77. Canadian per capita is showing at $24,152.79<<<
Indeed :
Wrong figures for a comparison Crocodile...
The figures on that page show a TOTAL debt. from all levels of government in Canada, but the other clock shows only the US total NATIONAL debt.
Big difference.
Canadian NATIONAL DEBT> now stands at 500,000,000,000.
US NATIONAL DEBT> now stands at 7,300,000,000,000
The US has approximately ten times our population, therefore,we would have to have a NATION DEBT of 750,000,000,000---- 50% more, to come to an equal per person debt level.
Not only that, but most municipalities and states have a higher debt per person than the same governmental levels in Canada.
Alberta for example is about to become debt. free.
Anyway, the US NATIONAL debt. per person is about 25K, and for Canada about 15k.
Another figure we often miss is monetary obligations of our currencies printed and not in use in the country. The US has a massive amount of dollars swooshing around the world used as a means of local currency.Canada has very few dollars in use in other parts of the world.LAst I read the figure was somewhere near one trillion US dollars in circulation outside the US.This has much to do with why the US can " afford " more.Just print the money and send it away for goods and services, but that comes at cost too, because you have to guarantee that those dollars maintain their usage.
It's called hegemony, and is largely upheld by a strong military and global influence.
