I have never seen any news article about the propriety of a soldier (Kerry) taking his own video camera to the battlefield. Is this common and is it legal
as far as the military is concerned?

The recent capture of a computer owned by a Muslim terrorist (Kahn?) shows
sensitive information in the enemys hands can be damaging. Same goes for
Kerry's camera I would think.
