As long as Bin Laden is alive, he is what we would call a "winner" all over the Muslim world. Middle Eastern culture provides a lot of respect to those who defy the odds and suceed and they have a lot of contempt for losers. There was a lot of outrage at SH for example for losing Kuwait in less than 100 hours. Bin Laden will remain a hero unless he is captured alive. If he is killed he is a martyr. Alive however, I think he loses his aura.
