Eric,

another reason why IBM or even SUNW probably won't buy Novell: Novell is seen as a has been with "old" technology. This might not be true but the perception is almost everything. IBM and SUNW want to look modern and state of the art. This equals NT, Java, Internet, etc... not Netware. If one of these companies buys Novell their stock is going to get hammered and potential customers will go somewhere else where its hip and new.

I think you're right...if Novell is to be bought out it will be after Schmidt turns Novell into the premier intranet/internet company.
