South Mimosa blooms
Upstream, August 5

Swedish explorer Lundin Petroleum has hit oil with its South Mimosa-1 exploration probe, sunk in France's onshore Aquitaine basin.

The well has successfully tested an average rate of over 1600 barrels of oil per day, and Lundin said no water was produced during testing operations.

The South Mimosa-1 discovery is located close to existing production facilities and the forward plan calls for a fast track development including the completion of the existing discovery into a production well.

Lundin added that further evaluation of the discovery will be required to define the final development of the Les Mimosas field.

The South Mimosa-1 find is included in the Lege exploration permit.
