Lundin eyes Banyumas contractors
Upstream, July 30-August 5 issue
By Amanda Battersby

Swedish operator Lundin Petroleum is prequalifying contractors to supply equipment for its planned drilling campaign at the Banyumas production sharing contract in Central Java, Indonesia, writes Amanda Battersby.

Lundin is aiming to drill one firm exploration well and up to three contingent wells in a campaign that is expected to start in the second quarter of 2005.

The operator is seeking contractors that are registered with Indonesian upstream regulatory authority BP Migas to prequalify for a range of kit and services including both surface and sub-surface well testing equipment, Christmas trees, mud and electric line logging and hydrogen sulphide equipment.

A separate contract is on offer for the supply of OCTG including seamless conductors, drill pipe and liners plus connectors for the one firm well.

Companies that are interested in the contract will need to complete the operator's quality, safety, health and environment questionnaire by 17 August before being allowed to bid.

Lundin was able to map four leads through the reprocessing and re-interpretation of seismic data that was acquired between 1972 and 1991.

Some of the leads are said to be deeply rooted structures under surface gas and oil seeps.

The operator then acquired 550 line kilometres of new 2D seismic last year over existing leads and interpretation of this data is ongoing.

Partners in the 5379-square kilometre block located next to Cilacap, Indonesia's largest refinery, are operator Lundin and ConocoPhillips, each with a 50% stake.
The PSC was awarded in May 2001.
