"This is all just picking, tit-for-tat. " Sure it is. But American politics is going through that part of the cycle where it is no-holds barred and the slightest blemish is enough to sink someone. Ok, it is one thing if you are as dumb as Gary Hart and dare the press to find something when you are actually engaged in something they could use against you. Look at Gore in 2000, he got pilloried over things he didn't say or do. True, there probably were enough of the ones he said or did to do the job, but there were things that were flat made up...
