Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver Canada Yeah but ours ain't great either .. the track can't support the top speed of the LRT trains.. which are nothing like bullet trains.... and they still use a lot of older trains. I live on the eastern edge of Toronto... yeah near the Pickering reactors that someday may work again :o)

Anyway I had a big client in Montreal and travelled almost weekly... Train ride is 5 hours... a little less 4.5 hrs or better (if on schedule... sigh) if you get the express but that often didn't stop at my 'close to the Toronto eastern border Guildwood stop ...' OTHOH going first class had decent meal with extra room top stretch and power for the laptop... and freeflowing adult beverages :o) MOST importantly though it is downtown to downtown...

Flying for me from Pearson was an hour just to get to the airport on a good day (no traffic) not to mention 50 bucks cab/limmo.. or park n' fly.. you pick.. Add at least an hour preflight arrival ... add a crappy short flight and a lading again in the burbs and another cab/limmo... yeah if only the rail was high speed say 2.5 hours or better MOntreal / Toronto.. that would be sweet... ... I'm sure if they built it folks would use it... Access to downtown Union station is no great shakes either though unless you are on a subway line... which is no great shakes in Toronto either...

All in all though the train is a more comfortable ride.. less hectic and more direct if you are doing business downtown...

OTOH I took the trans continental from Toronto to Alberta with the family on points... 2 rooms side by side... a blast..

Of course the other problem is the highway is good and we love our car power / freedom as much as any American...

EDIT The traffic situation is little better today with the toll highway 407 sometimes... but then we have extra security checks now... It's always something...

EDIT2

BTW Taikun... Japanese root of the English Tycoon ... from the title for the Shogun .. ??? close ;O)
