Something is afoot in Singapore where the economy is bottoming.

Senior Minister Lee is concerned over the fact that the Sg banks are not as vibrant as the HK competition. He said there's a "buzz" in HK that Sg just doen't have.

Getting the "buzz" will require easing some controls.

Former New York Federal Reserve president Gerald Corrigan has been appointed to advise the Sg government. Two of the Big Four banks are currently re-structuring. I believe that Sg sees the Thai and Malay competition muted for a while. They plan to make the most of the situation.
