<<<Let me explain why there is so much hatred of Bush.>>>
Let me see if I can understand the 42.5% of the people who love Bush regardless what happens to the war and the economy.
The people on the religous right who oppose abortion, gay marriage, and stem cell research are pretty much certain Bush is on their side. I am not entirely sure that his wife, mother, and daughters fully agree.
Those who favor lowering the tax across the board will never give up on George W. Bush. There may be some reservations on the supply side people (but nothng serious) who think that spending should be lowered and the budget should be balanced.
The neoconservatives, especially those who have strong emotional attachment to Israel, will stay with Bush to the bitter end. But, I am not certain that when push comes to shove, if the Saudi Royal family cashes in some Bush family IOU's that GWB can stay the course. Remember, Only Richard Nixon could have opened up China - the Liberal Democrats could never have done it. Similarly, I think only the Liberal Democrates can really get Isreal a sweetheart deal over the objections of many of Isreal's natural enemies.
Finally, the War Hawks are 80 - 90% behind Bush, even though Bush served honorably in the National Guards, rather than active duty combat, during the Vietnam War. The fact that he may have ducked out on some of those NG meeetings do not seem to bother all those who dispute the type of shrapnel that Kerry took and the manner of his heroism under combat conditions that they think is reflective of his honor code.
Then again, many (if not most) of the highest ranking retired military leaders, those that are not duty bound to report to the President in the active duty chain of command, are solidly endorsing Kerry/Edwards.
And, I almost forgot, there are those life long Republicans who have always voted Republican.
The same will hold true for the Democrats - the swing voters are going to be key. |
