Robert, the last decent Summer bottom was in 1996. Perhaps that is the time period that those who remain most bullish here should be hanging their hats on:

Unfortunately it just does not hold water. Why? Look back at that time period and you will see that even then the volatility indices were higher. In addition the BPNDX was setting higher highs and lows giving a positive divergence. Today we have negative divergences. The most recent readings for the volatility indices have not hit extremes and the BPNDX is hitting lower highs and lower lows. Hence the negative divergence.

October bottoms are much more the norm than Summer bottoms.
