Bearded and others, can you tell me how compatitable are chips from AMD and Cyrix now on the market are to those of Intel's ?? Are they 100% compatitible or just some % (?) compatitible.

Why would a user care what chips he is buying if it's 100% compatitable.

We used to talk about IBM-compatitable PC because some PCs in ancient times were actually not IBM-compatitable. These days PC is a PC, nobody even concerns about whether it's IBM-compatitable or not.

Will the same thing happens to the so-called Intel-compatitable chips ?? That is, compatitability will evolve into not a concern in the future ??

BTW, this is a VERY good thread to study the future trend !
