Do you use much technical and sentiment analysis Kayaker? I really think the next long term bottom will be fairly easy to determine as it happens:

Long Term Bottoms are easier to call than tops. They have several factors in common.

Near all time High Volatility Readings:

BP Indices that have all fallen below 30 but which are recovering showing higher highs and lows even as the market moves to lower lows:

Bull to Bear surveys like the Investors Intelligence Poll will be showing more Bears than Bulls:

vtoreport.com

Market Breadth Indicators that will show extreme oversold conditions:

investorshub.com

A period of high volume capitulatory selling followed by lower volume selling that causes the market to retest lows often on lower volume as it did in October 2002 at the same time as numerous positive technical divergences are taking place:

investorshub.com

These are some of the things I will be looking for at the next real long term bottom.
