As a minimum, we can improve national security, as no doubt there will be others that will try to harm us.

As for the current threat, there is no way they can defeat us. Of course they can hurt us, but no worse than drunk drivers or a severe weather system.

Mary, please stop and think - really think - about what will be the consequences if, Heaven forfend, some jihadi sets off a dirty bomb in Mid Manhattan.

Drunk drivers won't even approach the same order of magnitude of death and disruption, not if you gathered them altogether to wreak their havoc in one day and place, which of course they don't, which why our current system can tolerate their havoc.

Now suppose Al Qaeda manages another one of their patented coordinated attacks and sets off a dirty bomb in New York, Washington, and Chicago at once.

What is to prevent it? Not any hesitation or lack of imagination on their part, to be sure.

You are too complacent. You still don't believe it's possible that the US of A has a real enemy, not one worthy of the name and able to hurt us. I guess one attack on US soil wasn't enough to convince you. How many will you need?
