Front page news in Australia - Driver with Learner's Permit caught going 122 mph in a 68 mph zone with passengers. It will be interesting to see what sentence the judge imposes. This is such aberrant behaviour for Australia, it's hard to believe.

L-plater clocked at 195 kpm on Hume highway
Sydney Morning Herald - August 9, 2004
smh.com.au

An 18-year-old learner driver was clocked travelling at 195 kph on the Hume Highway on the NSW south coast over the weekend, police said.

The L-plater, driving a 2004 model Ford Falcon sedan, was caught in the 110 kph zone by police conducting stationary radar duties about midday yesterday at Sutton Forest.

There were four passengers in the car.

The driver, from Ormond in Victoria, holds a Victorian learner's permit and will face Moss Vale Local Court next month on charges of driving at a dangerous speed.

He has been banned from driving in NSW until the court hearing.
