If what you're doing isn't bothering anyone else then you should be allowed to do it. Yes if you have an accident in your car with some helmetless rider and he croaks you're probably going to feel a little bad about it

it bothers the people who love the helmetless rider, it 'bothers' them alot when they've died needlessly

it takes a different kind of human being who would feel a 'little bad' about killing a helmetless biker

you can write casual off-hand, flippant about this, about death, but those involved hardly feel casual about it
