Yes, that's DNC talking point number one. When you can't refute the facts, try to confuse people. The problem is that Hannity should have been on that like "white on rice" and he wasn't. When the media can't spike it, they will twist it.
The other issue I noted in the discussion (shouting match, if you will) was that Lanny Davis insisted that x number of people on Kerry's boat have stated that he turned around and pulled Rassman out of the water.
Based on what I've read, I didn't think there was any dispute about the fact that John Kerry turned around and pulled Rassman out of the water.
What is in dispute, and what is critical to the debate, IMO, is whether the boats were under fire at the time. Based on what I have read of the Swiftvets accounts, and I have done limited reading on this, there was no hostile fire from the shore. If that is the case, Kerry was awarded the Bronze star for fishing a marine out of the river after the concussion from a mine threw him off the boat. No hostile fire, no imminent danger, no valor or bravery on the part of JFKerry, IMO.
