What is in dispute, and what is critical to the debate, IMO, is whether the boats were under fire at the time.

I have read the details from the book on that incident. There were three or four boats there at the time. The commanders of the other boats say that Kerry took off and then came back and retrieved him from the water before they did. He was in no danger, according to them. They say there was no firing going on, and cite the fact that there were no holes in their boats to patch when they got back.

The key now is to force Kerry to file a form 180 and release his military records. That is what Bush finally did this year. It will tell us more detail, and should show who filed the paperwork for his first Purple heart.

Since the Dems forced Bush to release his records, Kerry has no good way out of releasing his. A refusal to do so is an admission of guilt.
