Getting off Arab oil and cleaning up pollution should be a 100% bipartisan issue. McCain and other GOP senators agree, but the fact that we have three quasi oil lobbyists as Prez, VP and Majority Leader in the House means that the oil-pollution lobby has a deathgrip on our public policy. Bush's energy bill is a huge giveaway to big energy. Sure they want to produce more energy but the places they want to go into are some of our most beautiful and fragile wilderness eco-systems. A lot easier to start building clean efficient cars and public transport than waiting for God to create another wilderness area.
