Mindmeld, Greenspan still optimistic. "In recent months, output growth has moderated and the pace of improvement in labor market conditions has slowed. This softness likely owes importantly to the substantial rise in energy prices," the Fed said.

"The economy nevertheless appears poised to resume a stronger pace of expansion going forward," it added.

RE: "the economists at ECRI are the only ones I listen to, because they are extremely accurate. They believe that this isn't a soft patch, but a cyclical downturn that will last through the end of the year."

Wonder who will be proven correct - ECRI or Greenspan.

I think most people in hightech think Greenspan's prediction is correct, at least for the moment. Soft in the short-term, but okay long-term. Markets don't like uncertainty (bin Laden, election, etc.) so I think it'll be soft this year, but clear up after the election.
