In terms of public impression, it scarcely matters what's in the record. If we get into the position where major media say "release!" and Kerry refuses, then everybody will wonder what he's hiding. Of course, only Fox will ask for the info, and the NYT will cry "dirty politics!" (by definition, politics is always dirty and commited only by Republicans).

However, whatever fuss there is may persuade the Kerry campagin to stop talking about Vietnam so much, which would be something of a relief.
