It's certainly of interest. But is it the be all and end all of the election, as LB suggested and because of which I questioned him?

It's all well and good to say that something matters. All that does is contrast it with the stuff that doesn't matter, like what color socks he wears to the debates. It doesn't speak to how it relates to other things that also matter. How does it compare with Iraq, for example? Or education? Or AIDS in Africa? Or gay marriage? Or health care?
