There are a lot of rumour about China - I took several bibles in.

One was the entire bible in Chinese - one was Chinese / English
New Testament only and also a French/English
as well as a personal bible which we brought home again with us.

China is welcoming the West with open arms.

It is illegal to witness to non-christians and you will go to
jail for trying to convert people to Christianity.

If you are Chinese mostly - white people get away with it.

We witnessed to a few people while there - they appreciated
the "insight" if nothing else - they are not all out to get us.

If you go to jail you will be tortured and you may die.

There is next to no crime there - the streets are safer than here.

People leave their bikes and possessions unlocked often.

We saw unlocked bikes everywhere - stealing is not worth the price.

The police do not carry guns - the people do not have guns
not even the criminals.

Owning an illegal fire arm is not worth the price.

Torture is real and an accepted part of penal system.

We walked around the street day and night without fear.

There are pick pockets in very congested busy places.

These people are very professional - but you do not get held
up at knife or gun point - they do not go that far.

There is still the 'underground church' and you should not take photos
in the public churches - it is still dangerous for the chinese people.

One of the churches I went to - no one spoke English and my wife
and I were the only white people there.

They all smiled and bowed but we could only exchange a few
Chinese words as my Mandarine is very limited.

It was interesting however as they sang hymns in Chinese but
used the western tunes - they sang "Jesus Love Me" it was actually
quite moving - the church was so large that the people all sit
in different rooms with TV monitors and speakers - likely more
than 500 people were there? Not sure - not a good guesser
of that but I would say there was at least that many

They opened the church at 6:20 if you wanted to sit in the main
room you only need wait a few hours as the service started at 9:00 until 10:30.

I took a picture of the parking area as there was at least 50
bicycles and a lot of small motor cycles - 50cc or so.

Small scooters are very popular in China.

The biggest shock for them was seeing a picture of my family
of 10 children.

Over there if you have more than 1 child you will be severely fined.
The fine is about $10,000 US dollars for the first "offence"

It is also against the law for a doctor to reveal the sex before
birth as many will abort a girl baby.

They have a "1 child for 1 family" policy.

The population of China will be cut in more that 1/2 as some
people have no children and many do not marry at all.

Only the rich can afford the fines - also twins are extra special.

Socially however this is having a horrible effect.

The Children are all spoiled and none of them have brothers
or sisters. Many young people will "adopt" each other as
sisters and brothers - as very very deep friends to overcome.

However, some fo the benefits - as in your brother popping you in
the nose when you get out of line are lost. The children
are as poorly behaved as they are here and perhaps
- if you can receive it - worse!!!

The people however want the West to come - they can see the
properity that has already come from our presence.

They are desperate for Western integration and investment.

This is a powerful window for the Gospel.

It was indeed an eye opener - I do not think I will see the
world in the same way again - some very very poor people there.

Lazarus at every gate.
