The serotypes that most commonly affect humans are H1N1 and H3N2. The virus in Asia causing the most problems is H5N1, which has broadened its host range by picking up sequences found in human isolates. H5N2 viruses have the potential to do the same (both N1 and N2 are found in human flu viruses).
