As you know I see and hear an entirely different perspective of what is happening, has happened, and what could or should be.

"One has to believe that convincing people that the violent way is pretty hopeless, and that they could have a decent life if they embrace peace, will erode support for the worst violence, or there is no hope whatsoever. "

Children throwing rocks a few years ago was world news that drove world leaders into camp meetings.

Decent life? If you mean that fighter pilots will reduce the number of rockets being fired into residential settings, or suicidal terrorists will reduce the number of public busses being exploded ... I think everyone would vote for that. However, that does not address the claims of each fundamental side to have land and cultural entitlements that are not available in the presence of one another.

From the Palestinian perspective: The whittling of Palestinian life and culture has gone on since the establishment of Israel; which is way more than what the initial war was about. It is a fulfilment of what the Palestinians predicted from the beginning and continues to happen to this day. So, trust is an issue that impacts a coexistance that is just for all. There can be no decent peace without justice, as you know.

From the Israeli perspective: The Palestinians have broken down every attempt at peaceful negotiations since the establishment of modern Israel. The Palestinians have no effective plan to deal with their own radicals and fail to reign in the fundamentalist factions that are bound to broil up in the future as they have in the past. So the same issue of trust and justice is a thorn in Israel's perspective.
