First Focus manager taps CheckFree, ACS, Constellation Brands

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) - David Jordan's investment strategy is broad but direct.
The manager of the First Focus Growth Opportunities fund (FOGRX: news, chart, profile) invests across many different industries but holds to a key investment criteria: Buying into strong earnings growth at a discount.
"Growth rates vary from industry to industry, and company to company," Jordan said. "But in general, we look for companies that can show growth along with attractive valuations and prices."
CheckFree (CKFR), which operates electronic commerce, software and investment services, receives high marks from Jordan.
The company's technology allows customers to pay bills and to perform other banking services online, and Bank of America is its largest client, he said.
"Their last quarterly report was generally in line with estimates, and there was some selling off of the stock, which we think makes it's price attractive," Jordan said. "There are a number of positives for it in the period ahead." |
