I know there are all sorts of contexts in which the state could take someone's life. The one I'm really interested in from the Libertarian perspective is the death penalty, since that's a case where society clearly has control over if someone lives or dies. Sending someone off to war, even if by mandated means, is not necessarily a death sentance. What is the Libertarians stance (I guess it might vary a bit) on the death penalty. It seems like the ultimate use of state power of the individual, and seems like something the Libertarians would inherently oppose as it gives the state powers over life and death.
