I think it takes more than gumption; I agree with those that say it takes a more than slightly aberrant (abhorrant?) personality to be President. Look at Carter; great guy, lousy President. Nixon: lousy guy, almost great President (remove the dirty tactics and lying, and he would have been considered 'great'). So, are we drawing a box that no one can fit? Now, we're have additional requirements: telegenic, bland, no prior history of shock therapy, etc. Remember Tsongas - disqualified because of a lisp? Pete Wilson felt he had to get the squeak surgically removed from his voice before he could be considered. Strange.
