Should I infer from your response that you consider destroying Iran's nuclear facilities, if technically practicable, rash? If so, why?

No. Not Rash.
I agree with you that some action is appropriate. And though bombing should be considered, I am not sure that it isn't too late for bombing. It is the geography thing again.

I don't know exactly where the Iranians stand in the process of creating weapons grade stuff. Reports indicate they are pretty far along.

The prevailing winds are the Sharqi or Sirocco, a southeasterly wind and the Shamal a northwesterly wind.
Depending on the time of year, bombing an enriched nuclear weapon fuel plant would likely create a massive environmental problem/hazard for either:
Turkey, Georgia and Turkmenistan or
Afghanistan, Pakistan and China.

Not to mention, of course, that it would render large portions of Iran uninhabitable for thousands of years and be hazard to US Forces within the geographical areas I just mentioned.

Iran poses an entirely different set of problems than Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran will require a different solution. Your idea of bombing the nuclear weapons facility may have to happen. But I doubt it has made its way near the top of potential solutions. At least not yet.

I have said before that perhaps the very best spin-off from being in Iraq and Afghan is that we have Iran surrounded. That alone provides us with options that did not exist a year ago.
